Phew. You survived the first full week back to work. Pat yourself on the back, pour a glass of your favorite red, allow yourself to watch all 10 episodes of Making A Murderer in one night. Whatever you gotta do, you deserve it. Last weekend, I started on my New Year's resolutions which focus on being more adventurous and easy going as well as a few other things I want to keep in mind this year. I truly enjoy making annual resolutions. Not because I necessarily believe that they all stick; in reality most people will forget about them by the following week. But, because it follows the notion that there is always room to become a better version of yourself. Which is true, by the way. There is no point in my life where I want to look at myself and think, "Welp. That's it. I'm as good as I'm going to get. No more growing for me." I believe that there is always room for improvement whether emotionally, physically, intellectually, or otherwise.
I saw a quote on Instagram the other day that read, "Don't fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today". It actually sent chills down my spine when I read it. Change is good; change is necessary to become the best versions of ourselves. So, I embrace it. I love the feeling of a new year. It lingers for me. A fresh start, a new chapter. I've been making a lot of lists this week in my downtime of things that I want to try, places I want to visit, and goals for myself and the blog during 2016. It's has me feeling motivated and full of energy... even though the bug I caught this week would say otherwise.
Today, Sam and I are focused on painting our bedroom together and switching out a few cosmetic details to make it fit our more recent, cozy style. Aside from that, I'll be planning a trip to visit my girl friend for the first time this February in her new place in North Carolina, diving into a forgotten book on the couch, and making another (ginormous) batch of my favorite comfort food that I shared earlier this week on the blog.
