Who's ready for a little mid-week excitement? Let's boost your mood today with this breathtaking, shabby chic nursery and the most beautiful pregnancy story from business owner, photographer, and soon-to-be Mom, Caitlin Tirro:
"Eric and I have been together for 8 years in August, and married for 3 this past April. Deciding when a good time to start trying for a baby was scary. It’s exciting, but on the other end it’s a huge decision and something we went back and forth on for some time. There’s never a perfect time to start a family, but we were 27 years old, financially stable, and at a point in our lives where the only thing standing in our way was us.
I went off my birth control and only one month later, we were pregnant. I made the mistake of taking the test when my husband was on a night flight, so I was alone when I read the test…PREGNANT!!!! I was excited, shocked, nervous and in complete disbelief. I called to see if my husband was still on the ground and he was. I really didn't want to tell him over the phone but knew it would be hours until he got home and I’d probably be sleeping. I told him I’d call him right back. I took a picture of the test and sent it to him. Not a minute later he was calling me. “Wait….really? Really?” he said when I answered! “Yup!” We were clearly both in shock, but very excited!
We told immediate family and very close friends the day after we found out…but waited to publicly announce until the traditional 3-month “safe” zone. It was close to Christmas when I was 3 months pregnant, so I sent an ultrasound picture to my father and he edited a Santa hat on top of the baby’s head and added the wording, “Santa isn’t the only one coming to town”. We sent them out as holiday cards, and I also used the photo to announce publicly via Facebook.
To be frank, pregnancy was MISERABLE throughout the duration of the first three months. The exhaustion and nausea were truly debilitating for me and made me quite depressed. I let it get the best of me initially, but I was put on meds to curb the nausea, and once I got to my second trimester I was back to my old self and feeling much more positive about my pregnancy. I’m currently 8 months and some change at this point, and I feel great. Really nervous about labor and delivery, but grateful that I am in great health, and our little girl, Alaina, is healthy. We are anxious for her arrival, but enjoying our last couple of months as just husband and wife until she gets here."
