The past few months have been kind of a blur for me and for some odd reason, I didn't get to complete nearly as many blog posts as I had anticipated. One of those posts being my Winter beauty buys, since I have been doing them in seasons rather than months. That being said, I'm kind of relieved that I didn't get around to my Winter installment since they were relatively boring and not all that glamorous, anyway. (Think: oatmeal lotion and heavy duty chap stick). So, when Spring popped along and the weather began behaving accordingly, I knew that it was the right time to bring out (and buy new) pink hues in my cosmetics case.
I've decided that rather than waiting for the seasons to change to share my new favorite beauty products with you, I'm just going to round them up really whenever I deem necessary, ok? I'm glad we're on the same page. I figured you wouldn't have a problem with that anyway. Everyone loves discovering new beauty products, especially when they're this pretty.
Spring is my favorite season for several reasons; one of those being that it brings out my more feminine side, especially in the blush and nail polish departments. These tiny touches and adjustments in my daily routine help me look and feel my very best for the new season ahead.
1. Rose Radiance BareMinerals Blush $21
The first beauty product that sticks out to me when I think of changing seasons from Winter to Spring is a beautiful, pink blush. Adding a pop of color helps provide depth to my face overall and accentuate my cheek bones. This light pink shade makes me feel extra girly and pairs perfectly with my pale nail polish and lipstick mentioned below. It is my go-to makeup combination,
2. Ballet Slippers Essie Polish $9
Over the past few months, Essie has become my favorite nail polish brand because of the on-trend shades and colors. I even stopped going to the nail salon to get my monthly gel treatment because I've been painting my own nails and toes (gasp!) with these cute colors. I love switching up the shade each week to fit my mood and this pale pink, Ballet Slippers, has definitely been my favorite to match my neutral wardrobe.
3. MISSHA Perfect Cover BB Cream $22
This foundation is actually the one that I spoke about when I did my Korean Beauty Products trial and it has stuck with me since. I love it because it's so lightweight but, it still manages to provide great coverage. The shade that I chose matches and blends in with my natural skin tone perfectly and has not caused any breakouts in the many months that I've used it.
4. Son & Park Highlighter Cube $12
Highlighter is one of my favorite final touches to apply in my makeup routine, especially on the weekends when I feel like a little extra "glow" is necessary. Swiping a touch of this product across the very edges of my cheekbones and down the ridge of my nose helps those distinct features stand out that much more.
5. Rosy Cheeks LUSH Fresh Face Mask $13
You all know by now how loyal I am to my favorite beauty company, LUSH. So, it's really no surprise that they made my Beauty Buys list once again. One thing that you may not know, however, is that I've had a mild skin condition that causes redness and tiny bumps on my cheeks and arms for years now. I'm usually able to hide the redness on my cheeks with the BB Cream Foundation that I mentioned earlier. That being said, when I took my monthly trip through the LUSH store that we have downtown, I was surprised to see a new fresh face mask that I had yet to try, appropriately named "Rosy Cheeks". Upon explaining my skin to the sales associate, I knew immediately that this would be a good match for me. I've been using it at least 3 times a week now and love how it calms my skin and makes it smooth. It has helped with the redness in my cheeks, especially if I use it in the morning before applying my makeup. This fresh facial has become a staple in my beauty routine and, judging by how well it has worked for me so far, it's not going anywhere.
6. Kinda Sexy MAC Matte Lipstick $17
This is not the first time you've seen this specific shade of lipstick by MAC on AEE (here, here, and here) and it definitely won't be the last. I can't even express how much I love this matte lipstick. At a minimum, I use it 5 days a week. Kinda Sexy is my no-fail, neutral shade that helps me feel put together whether I'm headed into the office or downtown for a date night. The use that I have gotten out of it justifies the more expensive price. In addition, I've found that the MAC lipsticks are better quality and do not dry out my lips like many other brands.
