Hey, guys! How trendy and super chic is this new addition to my home office? I've been lusting after minimalist designs similar to this one online for about a year now and have simply been procrastinating about getting it done. I figured that either the pre-made ones were too expensive for me to justify purchasing or the DIY version appeared a tad too difficult to complete. Hint: I was wrong.
Copper pipe is a really great material to play around with for DIY home improvements because its relatively inexpensive to purchase from your local hardware store, it adds a touch of elegance in just about any project you use it in, and it's super easy to design and assemble.
Recently, Sam and I began watching a handful of DIY Home Improvement shows. Bad idea. Baaad idea. Now, I want to remodel everything in the entire house. Heck, I want to remodel everything in everyone else's houses too. Wood panel accent wall? Check. Built in shelves for a color-coded library? Uh huh. Hanging copper pipe clothing rack? For sure.
It doesn't help my case that my significant other is practically the most "handy-man" of them all, either. That's really why it works for us. Something goes wrong or breaks, naturally, I freak out and go into a full-blown panic, and Sam comes to the rescue. Sometimes he looks at me in disbelief and is all like, "Anna...the cord isn't plugged in". Or something along those lines.
And since I discovered that he can assist me in these projects and actually knows how to put my wild ideas and inspiration photos into real-life logistics, the poor man hasn't been able to get rid of me since. And this DIY project? I certainly can't take credit for much more than the idea and the design because Sam is the true reason that this project came to life.
Talk about counting your lucky stars, ladies. Sometimes I wake up in the morning totally in awe that this handsome man that can cook, fix everything in sight, and sings Luther Vandross in the shower when he thinks I can't hear him, hasn't disappeared into thin air yet. Swoon.
Anyway, less drooling and more making. I hear ya. Now, let's get down to business:
-(5) 1/2"x 5' Copper Pipe
-(2) 1/2" Copper Fasteners
-(2) 1/2" Copper T's
-(4) 1/2" Copper 90 Degree Elbows
-4 Drywall Anchors
Tip: If you find that your hanging closet is unable to hold the weight of your clothing without coming apart, apply a thin ring of super glue around each fitting and let dry to tightly secure.
