Over the weekend, Sam and I visited Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore near our home to see the beautiful rows of tulips and other colorful flower bushes throughout the public park. Created in the 1920's by John W. Sherwood as a hobby, Sherwood Gardens was planted with tulips that he imported from the Netherlands. The gardens have now become known as the most famous tulip garden in North America. It is located in a beautiful neighborhood surrounded by ivy covered mansions and historic homes.
I could have spent all day at Sherwood Gardens just admiring the flowers and relaxing on the little bench in the middle playing chess. It was the perfect way to kick off a beautiful Mother's Day weekend.
After visiting on Saturday, I couldn't believe that we had waited this long being in such close proximity to the gardens. During our time that we were there, we witnessed a handful of engagement sessions, Mother's Day picnics, and couples strolling through the park. It was a perfectly peaceful place to shoot this look in partnership with Tobi.
If you saw my last style post with Tobi, the festival look with lace-up suede. you already know that this LA based women's boutique is ahead of the best trends in fashion. Tobi has quickly become my go-to place to shop this Spring for date night dresses, flirty rompers, and of course, printed maxi dresses.
I am a huge fan of maxi dresses, especially in the Springtime when the weather is warming up and we're spending more and more time outside. Throwing on a light, maxi dress has always been my no-fail way to create an effortlessly pretty look. This week, I paired this boho maxi dress from Tobi (on sale for only $28 right now!) with a braided black belt, and a white, wool fedora. A lot of the times I simply let the maxi dress fall in the loose and flowy way that it is designed. However, when I want a little extra definition in my waist, I cinch a thin, classic belt around to give the dress shape.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you beautiful mommas out there. You truly deserve to be celebrated every single day for everything we put you through. I decided to do Weekend Links this morning instead of yesterday because I spent the day with my mom, aunts, and grandmother in downtown Ellicott City to celebrate. We did a ton of shopping, snacking at the best chocolate shop, fortune telling (the really touristy kind), and ended the long day at a lovely tapas restaurant near the bridge. It was truly a perfect day.
This morning I'm heading off to my Krav Maga class before I meet up with my mom again to take Oliver and her dog, Peanut, to the park to play.
I hope you all have something nice planned for Mother's Day as well. I have lots of exciting content coming to the blog this week so, don't forget to check back later on and sign up for our e-newsletters on the right!
Every girl has that no fail, little black dress in their closet that they are sure will save the day at the drop of a dime. I know this because I currently have 3 of these in mine: one for work, one for date night, and one for running errands. However, since Spring came around, I've been trying my best to bring a little lightness and color into my everyday wardrobe rather than looking like I've escaped from an Addams Family sequel.
Having a LWD (little white dress) in my closet alongside its counterpart was one of my wardrobe goals this season. It's so effortlessly chic and you can either dress it up or down with a range of accessories. It's quite literally a blank slate.
My favorite ways to style a LWD for Spring are with a printed kimono or sleeveless cardigan, a statement hat or, of course, a chic set of jewelry. This week, I partnered with Rocksbox to bring you a beautiful set of styled jewelry to accessorize your basic, LWD for Spring. Using this service is a great way to style a less than fab outfit for a quick, daytime activity or, with for a night out with girlfriends.
When I got my new box in the mail last week, I was practically drooling over my Georgia Perry crystal earrings. They paired flawlessly with the multicolored, stacked bracelet, and delicate, gold necklace. I was so thankful for the stylist at Rocksbox because I'm not sure I would have known from the get-go to pair these items together in one look.
One of my favorite things about using Rocksbox is that when I feel like I've "outworn" my statement jewelry pieces, or that they don't fit in with the current trend anymore, I don't have to feel guilty about trading them in for new ones. I can switch out my jewelry set as many times as I want throughout my subscription period at no extra cost. This means that I could rock a totally different style every week without the commitment of purchasing these high-end pieces for my collection.
I have been trying to get in on the latest, tassel trend for awhile now and when I spotted this little, white dress for less than $20, I knew it was a match made in heaven. The dress is super light and feels more like a slip than a traditional cotton piece. It paired perfectly with a sleeveless cashmere, cardigan and my strappy, black heels. Although, on the weekends, I can definitely see myself rocking it with a beach hat and a pair of flats.

Hello, May! I was just reading through last month's recap on the blog and I'm realizing how much happened in April! Usually I'm bummed about how quickly the month flew by, but for once I actually feel like I accomplished a lot of my goals and got to do some fun, unexpected things on top of that.
Monthly Recap: April was a busy month for work, the blog, and my personal life, but it was also a lot of fun. I got to collaborate with two really fabulous companies (you'll see more of this in May) and I connected with even more creatives in this industry. AEE is growing like crazy and I couldn't be more proud to see the progress each month in our engagement, stats, and sales. We're averaging 10,000 plus views per week right now - can you believe it? Considering that I started out with a humble, 2 readers, it's a pretty exciting milestone.
I accomplished the majority my goals from last month including strengthening my marketing tactics. I hosted another Instagram giveaway which was helpful as always in driving a new audience to the blog and also getting the attention of larger brands. However, in terms of spending less time on my phone, I'll be honest, this part... wasn't so successful. I was doing pretty good at the beginning of the month but, as we stretched on, I found myself grabbing for it more often, even if only for a few minutes of distraction. I'll be discussing my plan for getting back on track soon on the blog because from the feedback that I've gotten, this is a big struggle for a lot of us - especially in this industry since it's our way of connecting and promoting our business.
We also celebrated Sam's 26th birthday in April with family and friends. Although we didn't get to take a beach trip like I had been hoping, we had a great time sipping on pina coladas at home and enjoying a nice, rooftop lunch. One of the things that Sam really wanted for his birthday was a Cannondale (apparently a very expensive bike) and we picked it up last week as a birthday/graduation present from his parents. So, I have a strong feeling that, like April, we'll be spending a lot of time biking around outside and exploring cities that are new to us.

May Goals: We have a lot going on in May already - with my birthday and Sam's college graduation all in one weekend, a big, Memorial Day camp out, and little get-together's in between, we are going to be doing some serious celebrating this month. We have been talking a bit about taking a trip to Philadelphia with our bikes and we're also in the process of planning our yearly, anniversary trip to Canada - which I think we'll carry out in the beginning of June. That being said, I'm hoping to relax more this month (HA!) and at least finish one, whole book rather than aimlessly wandering through social media at night.
One of my big, business goals for May is to organize a styled shoot with some of the bloggers that I've been connecting with in the Maryland/DC area. I'm excited to find out what goes into making these big collaborations so stunning. Aside from that, continuing to enhance my e-newsletters and listening to what my readers engage with best in terms of content will be my focus of May for AEE.
Speaking of e-newsletters, if you have yet to sign up for our emails, don't forget to do so on the far right of this page. And, leave me some feedback in the comments on what you'd like to see from the blog this month!
What are your goals for May? What do you hope to accomplish or prioritize this month? Let me know in the comments!
If you are a photographer, florist, style blogger, or boutique owner and are interested in collaborating on a styled shoot this month, feel free to send me a quick email so that we can discuss details!
