Phew. I am so, so ready to welcome Spring this month. Who else is with me? February was fabulous and all but, I'm ready for warmer weather and longer days. I'm also really excited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Easter and share some new recipes and DIYs with you in honor of them.
This week, I've decided to start a new series on the blog where I can review the previous month as a whole and make short term goals going into the new month. I always look forward to making annual goals for the new year and assessing where I'm at both professionally and personally. So, I'm confident that adding on tiny, achievable goals for each individual month will help me to follow through on those bigger, more impactful goals for the year. I also really enjoy looking back at all of the fun we had in the month prior and seeing our blog posts and favorite photos in one place.
February was an exciting and busy month, to say the least. I flew out to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit my best friend from high school, reflected on some of the more personal and sentimental stories of Sam and I in celebration of Valentine's Day, completed my very first couples photo session in Downtown Annapolis for a client, did a ton of recipe research and testing (my new favorite weekend hobby), and my style post was featured on Lauren Conrad's website as inspiration for a date night (always such a treat).
February Blog Posts:
After looking back at February, I've decided that one of my goals for March is to rely on social media (mainly Instagram) less. I have never thought of myself as social media "obsessed". This is mainly due to the fact that I only use 2 social media outlets: Instagram and Facebook, as opposed to having Snapchat, Twitter, Vine, etc.
However, I read this post by A House in the Hills the other morning and it made me realize that maybe I'm just as bad as the rest of our generation. It made me realize that while I leave my tech at home for date nights or in my purse at social functions, maybe I'm still relying on it too much in my day to day routine. After I thought about this for awhile, I realized that I do reach for my phone on a commercial break while watching TV, or if I'm waiting at an appointment or in line at the store. I do this most times without even realizing which is why I believe it's so unhealthy.
That's why this month I want to be more conscious of this bad habit and limit myself to checking social media occasionally or with purpose in terms of the blog, rather than aimlessly scrolling through the feed simply to pass time. I think that some months, I feel so busy and overwhelmed with work that I'm not sure how to react when there is a time slot unfilled in my day. That's why this March, I want to focus on enjoying those moments and just taking time to breathe and allow myself to observe what's going on around me rather than subconsciously filling the time.
Since that is my main goal for March, I'll keep the remainder short and simple: get back on track with my e-newsletters (sign up on the right if you haven't yet!), schedule more time to shoot new style looks, step outside of my comfort zone with beauty posts, wake up earlier so that I can enjoy a cup of coffee before rushing out the door to work, and spend more time with Oliver outside on walks and at the park.
What are your goals for March? Share with me in the comments or via Facebook.
